Programme

The organising committee of GWD2017 – the 15th biennial conference of the Ground Water Division – is excited to announce that Prof. John Cherry has accepted our invitation to be the keynote speaker at our conference to be held from 14 – 18 October 2017 at the Spier Wine Estate outside Stellenbosch.

Prof. Cherry is probably best known to us as one half of Freeze & Cherry who authored the authoritative textbook Groundwater, first published in 1979. He recently chaired an expert panel established by the Canadian Council of Academies to look into the environmental impact of shale gas extraction

Prof. Cherry’s participation in GWD2017 is eagerly anticipated as he can greatly contribute to the advancement of the science and technology of groundwater in this country. The groundwater community at large – including regulators, academics and consultants – will be challenged to learn and absorb knowledge from this leader in his field.
